A supportive approach to building critical math competence for high school, college, and work/life success. Each class will approach a ‘Big Problem’ math challenge requiring problem-solving steps using a variety of math skills. Students will work together to figure out what needs to be solved, what information is needed, what knowledge they already have to help them, and what additional skills need to be learned to complete the challenge.

In addition, this class will include fun and low-pressure approaches to building up math proficiency through: playful warm-up activities, math games, tricks and shortcuts, entertaining data and statistical analysis, and a look at how math really does show up in the real world.

There will be no homework assigned in this class; however, students are welcome to bring in work they may be struggling with to get assistance. No additional supplies are needed, although calculators to assist with problem-solving are always welcome.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
